Dear Mr Gilder,
My wife and I retired and moved from Sheffield in May 2003, to live in the Scottish Borders and have never regretted it, apart from not having a decent Audi/Volkswagen retailer nearby.
We bought nine private Volkswagen and Audi cars from you when we lived in Sheffield and it was always a pleasure to deal with your company.
The service we received from you when buying and selling, booking a service and solving problems was always handled with such friendly efficiency and we have missed this service, so much in the past six years.
You made us feel valued customers and we were always treated like that by every member of staff, in, what was then, Gilders North and South.
I always remember one cold winter and the freezing temperatures caused the windows in my wife’s car to drop into the door wells. She called in at Banner Cross and was loaned a car whilst you fixed hers and called back later in the day to find her car had been repaired. She was so moved by this that she wrote to Gilders and the letter was obviously passed to you because you personally wrote to her ( by hand ) to thank her for her letter of appreciation. We still your letter. What a shock when we moved here !!
XXX Volkswagen and XXX Audi have been dreadful and I have made this known to Audi and Volkswagen UK and in Germany, they should not get away with substandard care and quality !!
My wife wanted a new Audi A3 Sportback this year and I said “ Fine, by me but although it means going along way, we are going back to Gilders this time “ And so we have.
Darren Stolz gave me a decent price for my car and we have placed an order for a new Audi A3 Sportback which we should be able to pick up in late June 2009.
I drove down last Thursday to drop off my car and sign the documents for our new car and was so amazed when I drove into the car park at your new showrooms.
This, to me, was the vision of Gilders moving forward to supply an even better service and selling Volkswagen and Audi premium cars to the public.
I would just like to “ A BIG WELLDONE “ to all of you.
Unfortunately, after that wonderful experience, I took the train from Sheffield to Berwick on Tweed. What a culture shock !!
The train was full, the seats and eating trays were filthy and the staff were so unhelpful. My previous train journey was in Grindelwald last year so you can imagine how disgusted I was with the British Network.
I sat down and thought about your beautiful showrooms, which so typify that wonderful Germanic efficiency and it was not long before my anger and despair began to disappear. Three hours later my lovely, smiling wife was there to great me at Berwick on Tweed Station – mission accomplished, a job well done !!
We are looking to our June delivery so much.
