Gilder Group Developments

The most recent Gilder Group development is no shrinking violet. The combined Audi & Volkswagen site is now open and can be found at Meadowhead in Sheffield. It is arguably among the most impressive motor retail sites in Sheffield, Yorkshire, and maybe even the UK as a whole. Not only is it large, but it is also cleverly designed and finished to exacting standards. We're extremely proud of it, as I'm sure you can tell. Sheffield Audi replaced Peter Gilder Audi and Audi Approved Chesterfield and opened it's doors in December 08; Sheffield Volkswagen replaced Gilders Banner Cross in January 09; and the Group's head office followed suit soon after. We were delighted to get off to a flying start at the new Centre despite difficult economic circumstances.

The move followed a number of recent developments around the Group - a new home for Doncaster Audi in September 2004, a stand alone Van Centre in May 2007, a new showroom for Hull Audi in 2008 (now no longer part of the Group), along with the odd tweak here and there at all the other sites.

So what does this mean for our Sheffield customers...

At the new home of Audi and Volkswagen in Sheffield we've combined the latest technology and excellent customer service with the timeless values we're famous for. After all, it's our honesty, integrity and reliability that have won us so many friends.

Created to help us build on what we've been doing for over 70 years, our new home is every bit as bright and innovative as our future in the city we love so much. What's more, you'll find the same faces and the great customer experience you expect from 'Gilders' - there's a cup of tea waiting with your name on it!

No more trips to two or three different sites looking at a range of cars. No more waiting for a part to be brought to the garage where you happen to be. No more spending a day trudging around the city.

Having everything in one place means that, not only can you look at the very latest Audi and Volkswagen ranges under one roof, but you can also browse over two hundred of the best used cars on the market.

It also means that we'll have one of the biggest and most advanced workshops in Europe. Our technicians can share expertise, get things done quicker and, best of all, use the latest equipment to make sure your car is serviced or repaired to the highest standards around.

You might be wondering why we picked Meadowhead as the location for our new home.

It was no accident. We conducted a drive-time study that analysed where all of our customers visit us from and discovered that all roads lead to Meadowhead.

Even though we always love to see you, you don't even have to set foot in the new building if you don't want to. Bigger and better really does mean added benefots. More courtest cars, our express while-you-wait service or collection and delivery from your doorstep. We might even be able to look at your car at a moments notice.

Our state-of-the-art, wonderfully innovative development has a very old-fashioned purspose - to help us to deliver even better service to our cistomers.

Plus, there's no need to worry about inlation here becasue we guarantee our prices will be as competitive as they always have been - in some cases, even more so!

In fact, we'll match any servicing or repair quote using genuine VW or Audi parts. No quibbles, no conditions, it's that simple.

New building, new opportunities. From day one, environmental responsibility and sustainability were at the top of our list.

Our new home is built on 95% of what was here before, the old Meadowhead School. Instread of sending it to landfill, we used it in our foundations. There are 500 tonneds of recycled glass bottles under the paving slabs of the parking and forecourt areas. Out the back, we've buried a water tank which can hold 65,000 litres of filtered rain water - which we'll collect from the roof - that'll be used tion wash your car when you bring it in for a service.

Then there's the wind turnbin generating 'green' electricity and the self-dimming lighting across the whole building, delivering a 65% energy saving.

One thing's for sure, at the Gilder Group we have a history for innovation.

From the early 1900s to when Jack Gilder opened the first garage bearing the Gilder name in 1938, we have always had a pioneering spirit. No more so than when he sold the very first VW Beetle in the UK back in '53. More firsts were to follow, including the Gilder Group becoming one of the first businesses to adopt the Audi brand and the Volkswagen Commercial Vehicles brand as they became part of the Volkswagen Group.
